Nisan, Southern Branch
Here the pathway draws into two sections- one off to the
and one that leads a small flight of stairs off to the north. From
here you lay sight on Nisan's rather strange idea of a building- dull stone
at the base and capped and framed at the doorway with a shining
bronze, much like the dome of a bell. Compared to Dazil and Bledavik's
one-room-hovels, these houses are all considerably bigger. An lies
to to the west, while at the top crest of the small staircase lies a modest
house. Just beside the modest house is aneven smaller . To
the lies the southern exit of the town.

Granle
The Nisan Cafe
Granle marches up to Kaori, paper transcript in hand. "Kaori? I have
orders from Captain Brentaal of the Fifth Infantry Division to accompany
you and the Shevvite ambassador, Mrs. Uzuki...is this right?" He hands the
transcript to Kaori, and silently stands in place.
Turning away from the cathedral, there's a pause before Kaori turns
around, offering a blink. "... Really..." She reads the transcript quietly, her
free hand's fingers tapping lightly against her chin. "... Well, that's a
surprise. I figured everyone would've been sent down with the original
contingent."
Granle shakes his head curtly. "The center for military distribution
determined that a sharpshooter wasn't with the current party, so they
sent me in." He points to a line in the transcript. "Also says I need more
diplomatic training so I was sent to spectate." He smiles coldly.
Kaori lets out a bit of a laugh-- indeed, quite the thing to hear.
"Diplomatic training..." Her tone shifting into a snicker, head shaking
lightly. "Well, welcome to the fun." Watching his posture quietly, her fist
raises to give a friendly tap. "Loosen up. Might learn to like it, here."
Granle snorts quietly. "Right." He shifts the automatic rifle on his shoulder,
and glances at Kaori. "Got any place where I can stash some of my stuff...
and my Gear? I just flew down a few hours ago, and I was searching for
one of the Shevvite military."
Shaking her head, Kaori jerks a thickly-gloved hand toward the
Cathedral. "Most of the regulars are up there, keeping an eye on things.
I'm more of Ms. Yui's bodyguard, though she likely needs one not." Gear?
Hideout? No problem! "Over the western border of the city, you will find
a small gathering. My own Gear is there, along with a few others. They're
on standby, in the event of an emergency of some sort." She turns and
points a bit down the road, "... And the Inn is right there. We have most
of the place booked up solid. Just say you're with the Ambassadorial
Crew."
Granle thanks Kaori with a grunt. "And...where is Ms. Yui at the moment? I was
informed I was to be present at the proceedings and negotiations...it says on
the transcript, if you still have it." He swings his back and forth, glancing at
the quiet town.
Kaori folds the papers in her hands and offers it back to Granle. "She's
presently at the Cathedral. Though we have regulars stationed inside, we're not
to enter while she and the Holy Mother are at talks. When she exits, however,
we'll be able to have open forum with her."
Granle takes the paper and tucks it into his breast pocket. "So, is there
anything else to do while we wait for the ambassador?" He grimaces as he looks
at the quiet town. "While peaceful is relaxing, Captain Brentaal told me I'd be
needed down here. Now I see that he's been lying, or..." he glances at Kaori to
finish the sentence.
"Not... much." Kaori leans against the higher wall that runs around most of
the town, reaching behind her back and withdrawing the kodachi hidden in her
jacket. Thumb running along the flat, she examines it more closely, to ensure
the sharpness and quality-- carefully, of course, as not to cut her gloves open.
That would be... well, bad. "... Just relax. That's pretty much all we can do,
until someone starts trouble."
Granle rolls his eyes. "That's...boring." He follows Kaori's example and leans
against the wall. He brings out his automatic rifle, and fires a round in the
ground. "Hmm...caliber's fine, it's an inch off. I'll have to fix that
somewhere...is there a gunsmith here, somewhere?"
Kaori offers a bit of a grin, tucking the bladed weapon away. The next to
come out? A giant revolver. Longbarrel. Huge. Amazingly. "You only wish.
There's a general store up there," she comments, nodding her head as she checks
her ammo and tucks the weapon away again, "... But finding an actual gunsmith
around here is tough." Last on her checklist? A small device that fits into
her palm. A little wire connects it to one of the plates in her glove, as she
clicks two of the four buttons on the sides. Satisfied, she replaces the object
into her coat and stretches, grinning. "... So! You have lots of time to ...
sleep... drink... no causing a ruckus, though. We need to keep ourselves pretty
minute in volume. See if you can get some plainclothes, instead of the uniform,
too."
Granle shrugs. "Since I was under the impression I was to be present during
the negotiations, I only brought uniforms..." He looks down on his uniform. "And
no money, as it be, because I thought that shelter and food would be provided."
He sighs, and looks at his Gear, which is parked a few dozen yards away. "I'll
just fly back up to HQ and grab some clothes when I get a chance...that is, when
Ms. Yui gets out of the talks."
Kaori holds her hand up a bit, shaking her head and digging the other one into
her coat. Shuffle shuffle shuffle, search search-- there! Pulling out an
envelope, she offers it to Granle with minimal ceremony. "Just go buy some up
here. Nothin' too big. Pants, shirts, jacket if you want one. There /are/
Solarians shuffling through town-- only one that I saw, so that's why we're
keeping plainclothes. Keeps suspicion down." And the guards in the cathedral
also convienently disappear when there's someone coming.
Granle grunts again. "Thanks. I'm going to go and check maintenance on
Bullseye, buy my clothes later. Oh, and don't worry about me getting into the
inn at time; I'll be sleeping in my Gear."
Kaori arches her eyebrow a bit. "You sure about that?" she asks, looking
curious. "The Inn has plenty of room. It's just a matter of getting checked
in. Takes two seconds, tops. Beds are a helluva lot nicer than the barracks,
too...."
Granle nods and tucks the envelope into his pocket. "First off, the Inn
doesn't have a security system, does it?" He pauses, and continues, "I also wake
up -very- early to do some early sharpshooting. Re-building and dismantling my
rifle is awfully noisy, and that would probably wake other people up. Besides,
I'll pop in once and a while for a shower or food...and my Gear's plenty
comfortable for me."
Kaori rolls her shoulders in a shrug, head shaking lightly. "Rightyo. Well,
check back in when you get back. If I'm not at the Cafe, I'm at the inn,
general store, or just hovering around town." She likes the bridge. Good spot
for a view. "I'll check on the situation with Ms. Yui. If we're able, I'll
introduce you then."
Granle nods curtly. "Fine." He taps the pocket with the envelope. "When they
come through with my pay, I'll recompensate you." He slings the rifle over his
shoulder again and walks off in the direction of the parked Gears.
Kaori watches him walk, letting a sigh and mild shake of her head escape.
"... and I thought I was uptight..." she murmurs, arms folding snugly. Without
ceremony, she turns and starts walking up the street, in a vague direction of
the Cathedral.
