((Logged 6/14/2000)) Entrance of Dazil Contents: Har Simo Proteus (Gear) Keringale (Gear) Sign Har leans against Proteus and yawns. The mobile coffeepot next to him is plugged into Proteus's external bank and is happily brewing. He looks up and grins. "Simo right? Grab a seat, how've you been?" Simo can only smile and shake his head at seeing the coffie pot hooked up to a gear. "Yep, my name is Simo. Haven't been doing to badly lately. Har leans back into the Gear and grabs an empty. He makes a grab for the finished coffee as it trickles out. "Good to hear. Want some?" Simo egarly nods his head at the offer of caffiene. "Sure, some coffee might be good to keep me awake at the moment." Har gets sand in his coffee! Noo! Simo shrugs at the accident. "Well, it's hard not to get sand in the coffee around here. I guess I'm just used to it." Simo says, "I'll take that one if you don't want it." Har grabs another empty cup and pours for Simo. "You take it black? Here, grab a seat next to me, don't worry about mine." Simo has found a seat and is contently drinking his coffee. Har finds some powdered milk and shakes it in. "So you found a good job yet? It's hard to find one as a mechanic without joining the Ethos workshops." Simo takes his hat off and whipes some sweat off his forhead. "No, nothing yet. It is hard since I'm not one to join them. Just a couple of odd jobs here and there but nothing long term." Har props up his feet and drinks some coffee. "What are you in the mood for long-term? I know a few places that could use some good mechs." Simo takes another drink from his coffee. "Well, I guess after I left Nortune, I came here to try and find my luck. It hasn't worked out here, so if you have any other recomendations, I'd sure be all ears." Har doesn't say anything for a bit while he drinks. "Well, I know two good places. If you wanted to do the Ethos it could be three but I respect that. The thing is.. how caught up in politics do you want to be?" Simo rubs his chin and ponders what Har said. "Yeah, the Ethos thing really isn't my cup so that's out. As for being caught up in politics, well, I tend to ride the fence on those matters." "Ride the fence?" Har grins merrily. "Good. I like dealing with people who don't see the world in only two colors, you know? Too many of those around. Like, see?" He points at his uniform. "The people I'm going to recommend you to hate the place I work for. My superiors hate them too but that doesn't mean I can't at least be civil right?" Simo leans his head to the side and scratches it. "No, I guess not. But I suppose if the people you are going to recommend me to trust you, then that's OK by me." And takes another swig off his coffee. Simo tries to find some shade around the gear legs. Har chuckles. "I don't know if they trust me but I like them. They're good people, or most of them are. Or you could come up and join my troops but I don't think you'd like that as much. Governmental problems.." He refills his cup and offers it over. "They need good mechanics though with good tempers. Interested?" Simo taps his fingers on his cheek, obvisously weighing his options. "Hmmm...Both options sound promising. I guess I'd be a little wary of the Governmental Problems though." Har sticks the coffee pot back on the burner. "Yeah, I know. So it sounds like the Ygg is the option for you. Have you heard anything around here about the desert pirates?" Simo stares off in another direction. "There were rumors floating around the Battleing Arena about a group of desert pirates in some sort of sand ship, but that's all they were, rumors. Har nods. "They're around. They're on the side against mine," He taps his uniform again. "I know where they stay these days. There's a man named Sigurd Harcourt who helps to run them--he's got a ward who he calls the 'Young Master', but I haven't met him yet. Harcourt's distinctive, he's got silver hair and an eyepatch." Simo says, "Hmmm... So the rumors were true. I suppose they have gears to handle some of their missions?" Har stirs in some more sugar. "Yeah. And a decent place to stay while you work. Does it sound like something you'd be interested in? I'm sure they could use you." Simo puts his hands in his pockets and pulls out nothing but air. (and some lint.) "Anything must be better than here and the Arena. Yeah, it does sound interesting." Takes the last drink from his cup. Har glances over. "Hey, you need something to stay on your feet? You've eaten recently and all that right?" Simo waves his hand in assurance. "Yeah, I'll be fine. I do have a small room here and the owner let's me stay as long as I keep the house running properly. It's boring, but it keeps a roof over me and some food in me." Har nods and offers Simo some more coffee. "Have enough to rent a dune buggy? I can give you directions there, but I think they'd get annoyed if I stopped by myself. Something about being on opposite sides or something. Well, that and they might think you were some sort of spy. Just call it rumor that led you to them." Simo takes the coffee and looks over at the rental place. "I don't think they have any to rent, or else I might rent one. I should be OK on my own out there, shouldn't I? Har shakes his head and grins. "It's a *long* way out there. You'd probably dry out and get sunstroke. Want me to give you a lift? I'd have to be quick about it though." Simo ponders the lift. "No, I wouldn't want to get you into any trouble. I'll find a way to get a buggy and if you could at least point me in the right direction, I'll should be able to find my way there. Har nods and pats his pockets to look for paper. "Let me draw you a short map. Be sure to bring extra water with you too." He grabs a pen and starts scrawling. "Okay. You shouldn't have to worry, just be a good person and they won't give you any trouble." Simo looks over har's shoulder while he draws the map. Har grins and tilts the map so Simo can see. "Okay, you want to leave Dazil from the western-southern gate, right? From between Bledavik and Dazil, just head north for a while until you see the mountain range, head northwest to get around the desert tribes and then west again until a mountain cluster comes into sight. It should be around there." He hands the map over. "Don't get lost out there ok?" Simo carefully takes the map and looks at it more closely. "OK, so north to the mountians, north-west by the tribes, and then west to the mountians. I think I can handle that. Thanks." Har nods and stands up. He dusts sand off his pants and holds out a hand for Simo's mug. "Want some coffee for the road?" Simo hands the cup back to Har. "I would love to, but I think I need to rest up for the journey. I think tomorrow might be a better time to try. Thanks for offering though." Har grins and shoves the coffee maker and cups back into Proteus's hatch. He sticks out a hand to shake Simo's. "No problem. Nice running into you again and good luck." Simo stands and wipes the dust off away from Har. He takes his hat off and shakes Har's hand. "Yes it was nice to run into you again. Thanks once again for the directions." Har nods and vaults back into Proteus. "You take care," He calls before sliding the doors shut and powering up the Gear. Simo waves knowing he'll never be heard over the gear's motors.
