((Logged 8/11/2000)) Shakhan Square, Fountain Contents: Luka Kale a Small Wooden Sign Luka splashes her fingers in the fountain, sitting upon the edge of the wide stone railing. The crowd moves about her on their evening business, primarily heading towards their homes for dinner. Here and there streetlights flicker, shining in the warm air of Bledavik's night. Kale walks down the street, glancing warily around. People give the demi-human plenty of space, some out of lotheing and fear, others just wanting to avoid running into him. Kale stops near the fountain a moment to put down his rather large, heavy bag, and rest his tired legs. Luka raises a hand to her mouth to stifle a yawn, dripping the cool waters of the fountain from her fingers. Catching sight of Kale, she nods a pleasant greeting. Then she sets her hand back to the waters, content to run the liquid over her skin. Kale nodding in return to the young women, Kale starts rumming in his bag. Taking out a small notebook and pen, he begins righting something down, looking up time to time to look at the fountain. Luka glances up at the sound of the pen scribbling, arching an eyebrow in interest. "You like the fountain?" she asks softly, the faint northern blend of her accent in contrast to the desert drawls of the crowd about her. "It -is- beautiful, isn't it?" Kale looks up from his note book. "Definatly. One of the few reason I visit Bledivek anymore, in fact. Do you come here often..." Kale pauses as he realizes he doesn't know her name. Luka smiles, nodding quietly in agreement. "Luc," she replies mildly, taking her hand out of the waters and flicking droplets across the fountain. "I love it here. It's so..." she shakes her head happily, murmering softly into the high collar of her vest. "Wonderful. So peaceful." Kale nods slowly, and gazes into the fountains waters. "That it is. If only the rest of the world were as placid as this..." Kale looks back towards Luka. "I'm Kale, by the way." Luka nods in response, looking back up to the sky as it darkens. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kale. And I agree. Places of peace are so rare in this world... it's all that one can do to keep them so safe. Sometimes I wonder if it can even be done." Kale says, "Too true. This world seems so full of conflict, I often wonder if there is anyone left untouched by violence or strife. " Luka sweeps her hand across the surface of the fountain, still half-bent over the edge. "I suppose there must be. Nisan is in particular a place of peace, and I advocate that strongly. But even they were touched by the Murders a few months ago... it is a shame that innocence seems to be an enemy of god, as if it somehow offends." Kale tilts his head to the side. "That thought has plagued me more then once. But murders in Nisan? I never heard anything about that..." Julian has arrived. Luka nods. "Two men were killed there. One was a soldier, the other was an Etone... it seems to have ended, but it's terrible that violence struck even there." Looking faintly distressed, she takes her hand out of the water and shakes it off again. "I suppose it only makes those rare moments of peace all the more valuable and precious." Kale shakes his head sadly. "That's terrible...in Nisan of all places." Kale looks at his reflection in the water, then skims the surface with his tail thoughtfully. Julian squenches his eyes from the late summer glare, making his way leisurely up the square steps, his worn boots still clacking, "I've come to appreciate the peace as well" he notes simply The ripples of both Luka's hand and Kale's tail cross and intersect, breaking the reflection of the sunset-touched clouds into shards of crimson velvet. Luka glances up away from the fountain to note Julian, nodding a brief greeting that is just as pleasant as the one she gave Kale. "It is terrible how there are some who feel that such moments and times only exist to be destroyed," she replies mildly. "When everyone needs a little peace to retreat to." Kale looks up at the newcomer. Kale's ears twitch as he trys to remember where he's seen that face before...and then he remembers. A thousands reponces whip through Kale's mind, but he only says, "Hello, Julian." Julian joins the two, nodding and faintly smiling, "A simple life is best I've found" he bows to the Doctor, the hard work and life evident on his dirted clothes, "...it's good to see you again" he smiles then looks to Kale, "Hey, good to see you again" he replies, with not quite the same infliction Luka moves over on the fountain's wide stone railing to give Julian room to sit, dusting the scuffed dirt from the space. "Simplicity... if only," she laughs, fishing through the soft pouch at her side for a peach bought earlier from the market stands. Raising an eyebrow faintly at Julian and Kale's recognition of each other, she falls silent to let them talk. Kale looks at Julian. "The last time we met, I was...rude to say the least. I want to apologize for that. How are you doing?" Kale looks back into the waters of the fountin, watching ripples spread. Julian smiles and takes the seat next to Luka on the rail, "It's fine, I've learned to forgive quite easily........in part due to the doctor here." he grins, looking at the woman, "Anyone can have a simple life, what's stopping you from retiring, moving to a little village on the surface, settling down, maybe making a few babies?" his impish grin lights up Luka laughs softly, shaking her head with a touch of regret. "It's good to hear that you're doing well, Julian. Har and I had worried... " She trails her hand through the waters again, enjoying the thick murmer of the crowds about them with the vibrant dialect of Bledavik. "It's not quite the right time for that, I'm afraid. But, little bits of peace... when it's possible." Kale shifts in his seat, and gently skims the waters surface with his tail again, staying silent as Luka and Julian talk. Julian looks over the water, sighs for a moment, then looks up to the doctor, "I'm not quite fine yet" he smiles, "but I'm learning to be" he looks up towards the sky, his eyes full of some inner sadness, "I'm glad that at least someone worries........well, not that you worry per se, but........well, you get my point right?" he smiles Luka laughs again, chiding Julian with, "Oh, Har and I worry. But we've kept our eyes and ears open, and so haven't been as worried as we could be. Is there anything you're lacking at this time?" She glances at Kale curiously, asking Julian, "You've encountered one another before?" Kale puts away his note book, and nods. "Yes, in Kislv. I almost provoked a fight, unfortuntly." His ears twitch at the memory. Julian nods slightly, "Yes, a few trivial gear parts, and some fuel.........." he stops for a moment, slightly ashamed at something, "...and....well, to be honest, some food." his face falls, "I've broken myself catching the ferry from Kislev........" he looks away, then distracted by the question, "Yes, he was a rather angry young man, quite the zealot." he smiles, "Reminds you of anyone Luka?" Luka eyes Julian's appearance. "Perhaps I should treat the both of you to a decent meal while I'm here," she laughs softly, ducking her head. "And yes... too many people are too willing to attack first and ask questions later, even when told that their would-be opponents are peaceful." Shaking her head, she murmers under her breath, "Far, far too many." Kale 's ears twitch at the mention of both gear parts and food. "What do you need in the way of parts, Julian? I recently aquired some you might be able to use." Kale looks toward Luka. "I've done that several times, sadly. The last one almost got me killed..." Kale stares off into some vista of the mind for a minute. "A meal would be nice..." Julian rearranges himself on his perch, nodding in quiet agreement before looking over Luka, a thought suddenly appearing, "...Luka, how is Sig?" his face appears worrisome, "I sent a message, but no reply. That's why I came, I was hoping to meet him........." he looks down at his feet Luka turns away from them both, signaling for one of the dozens of traveling vendors to come over. Peddling various flavors of food to the night crowd, one wheels his stand with fried meats and breads to the fountain. "Sigurd... is quite stressed, I am afraid. He seems to be doing well, physically," she selects only a few more fruits for herself, nodding for Kale and Julian to take what they want. "Although he shows signs of barely contained pressure and a stronger fanaticism for combat. Oh... and Julian," she murmers quietly, "I have been watching over 'Del... he arrived after Adesha." Kale takes a small peice of bread and fruit. "Sigurd? I saw him recently...he does seemed stressed." Julian sighs, looking vaguly disturbed by the news, "Stressed.............dear" he nods to Luka, "I've heard as much..........the fool" Luka shrugs lightly, speaking quietly to the vendor. Handing over a small pouch of Bledavik's currency, she sits back and takes another bite of her peach. "Then I won't trouble you about him. As for Sigurd... I'm afraid that he'd rather not like to see me, although I should hope that it is not terribly personal. We spoke briefly, and he seemed angered at my occupation. But he -has- been around... Kale, you would know how he is better than I at this moment." Kale frowns briefly. "I don't think he likes me either. But, he seems to be getting more ready to fight, and much more suspious of people...What do you do, Luka?" Kale's ears twitch as he thinks about what HE does. Scud peeks his lil head in quietly, craning his neck to see all the people....and they're valubles they might accidently drop into his pouch! n.n() "heee..." Julian wipes the small tears that are suddenly appearing in his eyes, "I.....I'm sorry............" he tries, "I care for Sigurd............quite a bit" Luka doesn't seem to notice Scud yet, sitting on the fountain with Kale and Julian while a street vendor assembles two packages of breads and meats. "As Julian says, Kale," she smiles, "I'm a doctor. And with Sigurd like that... something's going on. Something else..." she shakes her head, taking another bite of her fruit. "I know, Julian. There's nothing else right now about it though..." Julian nods, standing, "It's Ramsus...........you know better than I" Scud doesn't exactly wanna be noticed..n.n practicing.. Kale shrugs, and takes out a small knife. "Ramsus?" He carefully cuts his apple into several slices then takes a bite. Luka motions for Julian to wait a moment, standing herself and speaking with the food vendor again. Accepting one of the packages from him, she offers it to Julian. "Ramsus? All too well, I'm afraid. Here... Take this, and get yourself a bath as well. There must be a job around here in Bledavik to keep you healthy until Sigurd feels better." Julian accepts the gift with a bow, "Thank you.................please, keep me updated" he waves to Kale, "Good bye sir" Kale 's tail taps the ground. "Goodbye, Julian. If you need work, look out in the desert...there's a sand man encapment not to far from here. I might have something for you to do." Julian has disconnected. Luka offers the other package of food to Kale. "I'm afraid I should be off as well. Take care of yourself, Kale." Kale takes the package. "Thank you. Stay safe, Luka. This are turbulent times." Scud just kinda..sneakie sneaks behind the fountain..giggling slightly Luka smiles to Kale with a wave. "Remember the importance of peace..." And then she is gone.
