((Logged 5/2/2000)) The Aveh Desert Contents: Ryuuza Karagin has arrived. Ryuuza is perched upon a dine, it's dark form barely visible in the desert night, only the rather jerky motion of its head and shoulders making its form noticable as it rips away mouthfulls of its latest catch, an unfortunate Sandshark. Luka halts and considers the motion of the large creature which certainly does not remind her of a newt. She pulls out a notebook and scribbles down a paragraph; turning, she gauges the lengths back to her Gear. Karagin sneaks around behind Luka, he had been following her the whole way because she was doing other things besides his appointment. Ryuuza lifts its head up suddenly with a soft purr-like growl, its head turning back and forth rapidly, almost like a bird, snuffing at the air. Moments pass and it seems to be satisfied, the blood of its kill masking the smell of the two strange bipeds and driving the creature to return to sedating the near constant hunger of a predator. Luka tucks away her notepad, folding the pen back into her pocket. As she returns to watching the strange creature, the movement of Karagin catches her eye. She raises an eyebrow, and makes a faint bow. Karagin stops his stalking of Luka and stands tall. He bows back to her and quietly moves to her side. Glancing over he puts finger to his mouth and then points over to Ryuuza's spot. Ryuuza also seems to no longer occupy that spot after both of them looked away. Luka glances back to where the non-newtlike creature was, and then immedietly falls into a crouch. Catching her footing on the dunes, she turns slowly, as the motion of a wind across the sands, looking for the lizard. That same low, purring growl echoes over the dunes, refusing to betray the location of the sound's maker, designed to scare its new 'toys' into doing something more fun. Running, perhaps? Karagin follows Luka's move, crouching down low to the ground. He begins to scan the horizen all around, eagerly searching for the sneaking repitle. Slowly his hand rises and he begins to unbutton the Etone robe. Luka simply allows a look of quiet to slide into her face, rather than cringe or scream like a little girl. She keeps turning, watching for hints of motion, and quietly murmers, "Slowly. Back to Dazil." Karagin falls in next to Luka, still crouched he gets ready to follow her movement to any place. He is more concerned with removing his robe which is now fully open, giving hint to another set of clothing under it. Ryuuza leaps up on top of the dune closest to them, standing to its full height, sand rolling down the dune in soft waves, its large, clawed feet keeping its footing from slipping, the long tail swaying slowly behind it, that pair of bright green eyes fixed on them. Slowly, a low growl begins to swell up from its chest, gathering volume as it travels up its throat, only to be cut off in a sharp snort/screech. Luka doesn't fight for footing as the sand pours down towards them. Instead she drops and rolls away, catching herself at the base and brushing off her pants in reflex. There is still no fear on her face as she continues to back away. "Karagin," she calls quietly, "you parked where I did, correct?" Karagin follows Luka, rolling and stands the same way. The cloak hanging loosely on him as he speaks, "I believe so...," he says as he watched Ryuuza intently. Luka backs off towards the south. The Aveh Desert Contents: The Paladin (Gear) an Important Sign Karagin has arrived. Ryuuza has arrived. Ryuuza chirps and skids down the dune, taking a few hopping steps toward them, head ducking repeatedly in an almost playful bobbing motion. Luka crooks her fingers together in a cradle formation, a look of concentration coming across her placid face. She continues to back away, slowly and carefully, losing little footing on the sand. Karagin slows down his retreating enough to get in front of Luka, acting like a first line of defense if anything should happen. Both of his hands now are on the cloak, ready to pull it off in an instant's notice. Ryuuza stops after a few more 'hops', pausing to thoroughly wash off his muzzle in a manner similar to a cat before it 'hops' toward them again, amazingly fast and agile for something of its size. "Sssssnk?" Luka takes another few steps, easily traveling backwards through the awkward sands. A tiny light blossoms in her hands, and she steps away from Karagin, recieving a line of sight upon the creature. "It is very fast. Perhaps something to slow it down?" With that, she flicks out her fingers, aiming a few rays of light in a web-like pattern towards it. Karagin perks up as he heres Luka's voice and the web like energy flying at the creature. In his mind he ponders her being some use after all. But still, he remains always in front of her, both hands on his cloak. Ryuuza lets out a confused shriek, sidestepping, then leaping away from the light before it can get hit, landing again in the sand with a heavy thud that shakes the ground itself and sending up a spray of sand. Its stance is wide for balance, head and shoulders low, tail thrashing, all in all displaying the fact that it wasn't happy with what she just did. Now the nearly glowing eyes were fixed soley on Luka with an almost deadly, but still chillingly playful, intensity. It was like a big puppy almost, though a vicious one... Luka watches Ryuuza thrash, and then settle upon her as a nice, new target. Fingers are already weaving with her summoned Ether, forming another noose. Her eyes are cold, absorbing the implied threat by the lizard with little impact. "Karagin. Alternate with me. Again, back." Karagin hesitates for a moment and with a swirl of his robe he is behind Luka in a quick movement. All the while in his head he is wondering what the creature is going to do if Luka ropes him, what if she misses? Stuff like that. The Aveh Desert Contents: Microcamera BladeWhip Azotus (Gear) An Important Sign (Type 'look sign' to read!) Karagin has arrived. Ryuuza has arrived. Ryuuza blinks faintly, lifting its head and trotting toward the two at a decent pace, tail swaying back and forth in an almost hypnotic motion, aiming to close the gap between them, its motions silent, only the shifting of sand beneath its feet making any form of sound. Luka moves away from Karagin then. Immediately the pale glow forms and sparkles around her fingers, bringing lights to cast harsh shadows upon the dunes. Stepping away from Karagin's protection once more, she forms a full net in her hands. It is obvious that she has had some experience working as a team before-- taking the bulk of the threat upon herself again and then drawing it away, she leaves it open to a flanking manuever. Ryuuza instantly stops and shies back away from the light with a loud, almost pained, scream, eyes squeezed closed tight. Karagin smirks as he notices Luka's plan and the creatures sudden fright. Much more than a doctor... There is much I need to know about her. He quickly moves off of behind her and begins a circle around the creature, using the blanket of light to his advantage. Ryuuza has instead turned completely around, now darting a short distance away, then hunkering down, 'paws' covering its head as much as possible, jaw resting on the dark sand, tail wrapped around itself, using the shadow if its body to guard its eyes from the painful light. Luka spreads the net then, holding it forward now aggressively as a weapon before her. She pulls free a few strands, ready to throw--and then, sensing Karagin's movement, holds back, not wishing to catch him should the lizard dodge. As it begins to run away, she does not chase. "Karagin. Let's move into Dazil." Karagin waves his hand at Luka, "No No.... Keep the light on him.. It looks like it is blinding him." A wicked smirk begins to form on his face as he drops the robe about him (Description Change). "I am not the Gazel Ministry's Handyman for nothing," he says as he begins to focus his energies. Luka keeps silent, but holds her position steady. Her back is to Dazil's gate, after all--no need to move about now. Narrowing her eyes, she increases the intensity of the light, bringing a faux-daylight to the desert. Ryuuza screams again, lunging to its feet, now desparately digging at the sand to try and get away from the light that caused a pain like fire in its eyes, even behind the closed lids. Unfortunately, the talons were made for cutting, not digging, and it was doing little more than exhausting itself in its panic. Karagin continues to concentrate now, the headband around his head glowing, it soothing his brain so he can focus an even stronger blast. After a pause, Karagin stand and then in a jerking motion his hands jet out at Ryuuza. A inhuman scream emits from Karagin's mouth as a line of flames (Mid attack, not weak nor strong) flies at Ryuuza, parting the top of the sands as it goes. Luka continues to place all her efforts into keeping the brilliance of the light. Her face is still smooth and placid, but tears have begun to trickle down her cheeks from her proximity to the flare. Spreading the net further out to the sides, she narrows the creature's avenues for escape or protection from the harsh lights. Ryuuza looks up just in time to sense the heat, shrieking as it tries to charge out of the way, but not fast enough, the shriek escalating into a wail of agony as the flames strike its side and the light closes in around it. Karagin looks a little winded by the attack, but not hindered too much. He walks about from the Etone robe a couple feet and peers over at Ryuuza, seeing if the creature is knocked out or toasty. Luka takes a step forward, whispering "Wait a moment." The web of lights begins to fall forward, finally released into being cast into a net. It forms a shining hemisphere, lowering over the reptile. Ryuuza whimpers faintly, laying on its side, in too much pain to bother struggling any longer, submitting, hoping the pain will end. Karagin stands over the creature, the same wicked smirk still on his face. Quietly he says, "Please remove the net, We aren't going to take him back." Luka finally relaxes her hands. "I had not planned on it. This is simply to keep him quiet until we leave. Did you wish to possibly study him further without it?" Karagin nods slowly, "Yes, he is no danger now... Not yet anyway." He turns his head to the side, one eye on Luka and the other on the captured creature. "After the net, you might want to return.. I can't say he wont attack when I'm done with him," he shouts. Luka strides over to the lizard, making the last few concentrative gestures to help solidify the Ether's hold. She looks down at it, blinking back the tears that well up from the light. After taking the time to remember its features at this close a range, she turns and heads towards Dazil. "The net will hold for only a few minutes after I leave. If I do not see you in Solaris later tonight, I will return with a few soldiers. Enjoy." Karagin with his back now to Luka, smirks. He holds up his left hand and a metal claw unsheathes itself. With the ether now solid, he quickly swipes at a few spots, turning it to strips of stuff. With his other hand he begins to rumage in his clothing for something.... Solaris, Lounge Contents: Mr. Coffee Karagin has arrived. Luka is sitting near the window and enjoying the night skies. She is warming a cup of coffee in her hands. Karagin walks into the Lounge and heads straight over to Luka, not taking the time to look around the room. He is back in his Etone outfit and a smile is on his face. With the quietly, calmness back to his voice he speaks, "What an interesting night, I would have never guessed you held such power." Luka takes a sip from her cup. Raising one eyebrow, she says, "I can scarcely choose between asking if it seems so strange that I could be of worth, and that you consider mere lights and bindings to be power." She stirs sugar into her coffee. "Yours was very impressive, especially in comparison to my own." Karagin repeats playfully, "Very impressive, especially in comparison to my own." He chuckles politely, "Mine can not even compare, nothing but mere parlor tricks. A 'Mind Doctor' with power such as yourself, that is impressive." Luka sets down her spoon carefully. "You can manipulate the elements. I can perform only bindings and other minor things which affect one's mind. Such things go well together with being this kind of a doctor." She takes a sip, grimacing at the still-bitter taste. "It was only by chance that light itself could have been used against the creature. Dare I ask what you did to it?" Karagin gets the same wicked smirk he had when he toasted the creature. "Nothing more than healing it," he says proudly, "I am not as wicked as most of the Solarians can be." His hand scratches his chin as he pauses for a moment, "But, you can find out more during our session when it happens." Roger_Corbey has arrived. Roni has arrived. Luka stirs more sugar into her coffee as she sits by the window, speaking quietly with Karagin. Karagin is speaking quietly with Luka as he scratches his chin. Roger_Corbey looks over, quietly laughs a little, probably at Karagin or something about him, then moves to get a drink without disturbing the talk. Roger_Corbey notes the new duds that Karagin has, and is obviously having problems containing his amusement as he pops open a drink. Luka pauses before adding a dollop of cream. "Interesting. Many people, even on the surface, would have chosen to end it there rather than having it come back to haunt them. Rarely does any sort of creature forget." She takes another sip. "When did you wish the session?" Karagin crosses his arms, with the priest duds on it gives him a humble look. "How about tomarrow, Doctor? I am wiry of todays happenings, it has been awhile since I have used my powers and it has done more than I suspected," he says, "Is that fine?" Karagin nods back, "Good night, 'Head Doctor'," and with that he turns then leaves out of the lounge. Roni blinks curiously from his hiding place in the corner, shaking his head, barely the outline of a man. What strange times these were.... Luka moves a bit stiffly as she walks back to the holy Coffee Machine to brew another round. For some reason, she seems to believe in having a long night awake. Roni for lack of anything better to do, he chooses to pull some simple ghostly tricks.... his form now completely invisible as he moves over and places his hand in the way, letting the coffee roll off onto the counter rather than into her cup. Luka stops pouring, although she keeps the presence of mind to tilt the pot back up. She puts down the pot and begins to wipe up the mess. Coffee stains, after all. Roni smirks to himself.. oh, this one was gonna be as fun as messing around with Hyuga... Luka rinses out her cup, and fetches the coffee pot again. Over the sink, she tries to pour again, stifling a yawn with the back of one hand. Roni again rerouts the coffee's path, this time using telekenesis to put it into a curley cue on the way down into the sink. Luka watches this occur. Finally she upends the rest of the pot, or what little there is left. Glancing towards the coffee machine, she nods. And then she smashes the glass pot against the sink, not batting an eye as the shards clatter. Roni blinks and backs off a bit, tolting his head in curiosity.... Ok, so maybe teasing this one may not be such a good idea... Luka opens her hand and drops the metal handle into the sink with the rest of the shards with a clatter. She then calmly goes back and sits down to watch the night sky. Luka is sitting near one of the windows, calmly ignoring the shattered remains of the Mr. Coffeepot in the sink. Roger_Corbey looks up from his drink, to the sink. "When'd that happen, anyway?" Roni blinks at hte shattered coffeepot... hadn't meant to make her do -that-.... Now's the time to start wondering about the poor woman's mental stability. //And that man called her a Doctor? Sheesh.// Is completely invisible by the way... Luka keeps her hands folded carefully on the table. "Only a short while ago. I understand that there is a replacement underneath that cabinet." Luka walks over to the addressed cabinet and fetches a new coffeepot from underneath, fitting it underneath the spout. She starts a new pot brewing. Then she looks for a dustpan. Luka leaves the machine be this time, and leans against the bar. She absently brushes a bit of sand off her clothing. Luka turns around and leans against the bar, supporting herself on her elbows. "Good evening. I have not seen you before." Roni still looking for something to spook her with 'cause his typist's way out of it. Roger_Corbey puts his drink down, and looks over. "Semi-new face, is why. Can't say I've seen you either." Roni turns the coffee machine back on, having lost his entertainment in that.... and goes to look for the circuit breaker for this room. Luka leans against the bar still, but folds her arms. "I've been only recently assigned as well. Luka. Dr. Luka Kalval. The replacement MEHSO. Or, as some would term it," and she shakes her head, in either amusement or disdain, "The new therapist." She listens to the coffee brew, pleased. Roni smacks himself in the forehead. Duh. New /therapist/. No wonder she was hardly reacting. Roger_Corbey listens with some obvious interest. "Therapist/MEHSO, hmm? Interesting, Dr. Name's Roger..." He starts to speak again, but stops quickly. Luka pours herself a new cup, but hesitantly. "Roger?" She watches him for a moment, and then decides he's not going to continue. "A pleasure to meet you." Roni doesn't interfere with the coffee... this time. Roger_Corbey thinks for a moment and nods. "Same to you. Was wondering...you said you were the new MEHSO, saying many call it a role as a 'therapist' instead. Is there more to that?" Luka takes a happy drink of her coffee. "Technically it is the Mental and Emotional Health Surveillance Officer. Due to the high fatality rate," and she doesn't even bat an eye, "Solaris has changed the role to one of listening more often than dispensing magical advice. Some people, they feel, need only a willing ear to speak to in order to feel better." The lights in the room abruptly flicker and go dark. Luka sighs and leans against the bar, taking another sip of coffee. Roger_Corbey seems very interested. "An amusi..." he stops as the lights go out. "What the...?" Luka fumbles for her spoon on the bar. "A bored trickster, it seems." Roger_Corbey begins to try and adjust his eyes to the darkness. "I'm gonna go see if I can open the door. Could just be bad bulbs suddenly instead of a prank, couldn't it?" Luka takes a sip. Long practice means she can do this without spilling. Yet. "I do not hear a commotion, so it seems localized. And all at once? Including the Mr. Coffee? Check for the circuits as well." At the very end of Luka's comment, the lights suddenly come back on as if nothing had happened. Luka finds the spoon two inches away from her fingers. She takes it as if nothing happened, and stirs in sugar. Roger_Corbey nods, getting up from his seat and feeling around for his way towards the doors, and stops. "Must of just been one of those things..." he says as he returns to where he was. Roni peeks in through the ceiling and hmphs, not getting much of a reaction at all.. Luka sticks the spoon back into the sugar and looks for the milk. Luka pours in a bit of milk. "Regardless, my door is always open. Except when it is not." Yes. She is tired. "Feel free to stop by whenever you want to talk to someone." The milk, as it pours, immitates the Coffe's earlier route, twisting in a curley-cue before completely missing the cup and splashing on the counter. Luka tilts the milk back up and sets it on the counter. Reaching for the towel she used to clean up the coffee, she says quietly under her breath, "You don't really want to see me break this either, do you?" Roger_Corbey chuckles. "I'll keep that in mind. You've got style of sorts, I think." Luka mops up the milk and rinses out the towel. Luka looks for the Kahlua behind the bar. Roni teleports away... Roni has left. Roger_Corbey finishes the rest of his drink and rises. "You seemed a bit tired, so I won't keep you any longer with a conversation."
